Symbian Anna release date confirmation

Finally, a REAL Symbian Anna release date

Okay so you may of read the blog post a few days ago here on N8 Geeks talking about the release date of the Symbian Anna update coming in July, well, it has finally been confirmed over at Nokia Conversations. We can finally have a piece of mind of when we will really receive the long-awaited update, many of us, especially me, have been frustrated at the lack of details emerging – whilst they’re not obliged to give us an update, it’s always nice to be treated in a way that you feel special by the manufacturer.

Anyway, that aside, we will see Symbian Anna debuted in July on all newly shipped mobile phone models – this includes Nokia N8s, E7s, C7s and C6-01′s. If you already own one of these devices, you’ll get the update before the end of August (that is 2011, by the way ;) )

When you upgrade you will receive the new look Symbian^3 operating system, free of charge and easily updated. Simply update it via your PC or over-the-air from the software updater on the Nokia N8 itself. The update gives us new icons, a faster and smoother web browser, improved text input and enhanced Ovi Maps. So we’re basically getting a new makeover for our what not feels old-look OS – it will be more reliable than ever and a better user for us, the user.

Many of us have been waiting for improvement on the split screen view whilst you’re typing, allowing us to see our message thread with ease and whilst we’re in mid-conversation – and it’s coming with the update, yay. We’ll even get a virtual QWERTY portrait so for the more seasoned texters of us out there can type with a single hand.

So we’ve finally had real confirmation about the release date, does this set your mind at ease, or are you a bit miffed as to why it’s receiving as late as the end of August? Personally, I can wait it out as I believe it will be worth it – but I guess some people still won’t be best pleased – each to their own I guess.
