Fruit Ninja for the Nokia N8

Fruit Ninja for the Nokia N8

That’s right, it has finally landed on the Ovi Store for the Nokia N8 and other Symbian^3 devices, Fruit Ninja, the popular iPhone game that took the App Store and world by storm. Fruit Ninja is a game that allows you to create fruity carnage by bestowing your vanquishing power on the likes of melons and other fruit you’d find in the local supermarket.

You swipe across the screen slashing your fruit to pieces, whilst earning points for doing so and becoming the best fruit demolisher you possibly can. Fruit Ninja comes in three different gameplay modes in single player, giving you an addictive fruit-based action game to keep your taste buds and eager fingers wanting more. The more you play, the more you’ll want to master the art of fruit slashing and get higher scores than your friends.

The three single player modes available for you to play are Classic: You have unlimited time however you may not hit the cleverly integrated bombs or lose fruits. Arcade mode: You have 1:30 in order to amass the most carnage possible, the bombs will take points off your score and the uber-special bananas will allow you to gain special power-ups. Zen mode: You have 1 minute to slash your way through the fruits, without the hazard of bombs and having to carefully navigate your way through the game.

As you progress your way through the game you will unlock achievements, however at times this may seem somewhat pointless as there is no way to track achievements online, all the achievements you amass are stored on your device – still, it’s a nice addition. Unlike most other top of the range games on the Ovi Store, there is a clear lack of multi-touch, meaning you cannot do more than one action with one finger at a time – a huge shame, as it’s integrated into the iPhone/iPad/iPod/iTouch version on the App Store. Multiplayer is lacking too, which can always be changed in the future if the developer decides to integrate it.

After playing the game for a few hours the performance is excellent, no apparent lag and solid fps. An addictive yet somewhat slightly feature-lacking game, definitely worth the money and an apt investment for any gaming fan, young or old.
