With a top-notch phone like the Nokia N8, you will always want to have the latest software installed on your phone to ensure you have all of the latest features and bug-fixes, even whilst on-the-go. Update firmware

Firstly, click on the menu button and then choose settings. Now navigate to phone management and tap on device update – at this point you should see what firmware is currently installed on your Nokia N8. Now click options and check for updates to see if there is any more recent firmware available for your phone.

Software updates

Updating software and firmware are two different things on the Nokia N8, the firmware is the core programming that operates the phone itself – the software updates are optional updates for items like new themes, DAB radio and other related stuff. To update these, you need to do the following – navigate to Menu > Applications > Tools > Phone Setup > SW Update. Now you can check to see if there are any updates available, if there are choose the ones you wish to download – now hey-presto, your software will be updated.

If there is an update available, make sure that you have backed up all of your contacts and files, such as photos and videos before updating. It’s also possible to update your Nokia N8 via your PC using the Nokia Software Updater. If there is an update available you should click on the specific update and install – it may be required to restart your mobile phone before the updates take effect.
