Today Nokia announced a partnership with AT&T where they will offer numerous prizes that total $10,000,000 for developers on the Nokia N8 on the Qt platform. There are a number of different cash prizes and marketing prizes, with the best UI’s and graphic-intensive games being the winners of the prizes.
Nokia and AT&T are seeking the best premium experiences in the forms of native apps built on Qt and 3D graphics-intensive games, which will be built with OpenGL ES 2.0 and should delight consumers in North America (yep, that’s right, North America – damn AT&T) on the Nokia N8. Apparently Nokia welcome and encourage app developers from around the world to enter, however the apps must be relevant to consumers in North America – yep, we can blame AT&T for that.
The $10M in prizes will be distributed via cash, devices and marketing prizes which will make this the largest single developer contest in the history of mobile phones. This is the moment app developers should take advantage of the Ovi Store’s global reach, which gives them access to the world’s largest community of app-purchasing mobile consumers, whom download 4 million times a day in more than 190 countries across the globe.
If you’re an established developer, or even if you’re new to developing but have talent in abundance, check out the submission process for the Calling All Innovators contest.
