Nokai N8 movie starring Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson helps promote Nokia N8

This film is definitely not the first film to be shot on a mobile phone, however Nokia’s latest marketing campaign to market the new Nokia N8 mobile phone is a great way to take a look at how far camera technology has progressed in recent years.

The short filmed, called “The Commuter”, stars Dev Patel (you know, the guy from Slumdog Millionaire), Ed Westwick, Charles Dance and not but least, Pamela Anderson – yep, that lady from the ever-popular Baywatch series from all those years ago. The film, which was shot in 720p HD entirely on the Nokia N8, took over four days in London to complete – and of course you have to remember the time it took in post-production, too.

We don’t know yet whether the movie was actually edited on the phone itself (which is entirely feasible) or whether it was edited on 3rd party software. As like the popular Apple prodigy, the iPhone, the Nokia N8 comes with it a very easy to use video editor that allows for trimming and re-arranging clips on the handset itself.

If the Nokia N8 was competing against all the other smartphones of the world, based on its camera capabilities alone, it would certainly be the most popular handset on the planet right now.

The 12 megapixel camera on the phone that is supported by a large sensor, Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon flash. The only real issue with the phone itself is the outdated user interface, the poor web browsing and the lack of third-party application, give the phone a bad name. If these issues were worked on in the future by Nokia, then the phone could well become the new iPhone – but until these issues are ironed out, i don’t think the N8 will dominate over the other popular smartphones such as the iPhone.

The film you’re about to see below isn’t exactly Oscar-winning material, but the video itself is a work of art in its own right. The camera used in the Nokia N8 really is an excellent piece of technology, as you’re about to find out.
